PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification

High School Diploma

Texas Fire Alarm Technician License

Driving record that meets the requirements of the district’s insurance carrier

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient in calculating, organizing and lining up jobs to be done from small amount of information

Ability to use digital multi-meter

Ability to troubleshoot

Basic computer knowledge

Knowledge of fire alarms systems

 

Preferred Experience:

Five years as a Licensed Texas Fire Alarm Technician

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Maintenance and Repair

1. Install and maintain fire alarms

2. Perform any combination of measures, cuts, and bends wire and conduit, using ruler and hand tools

3. Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects

4. Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order

5. Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager or the Operations Manager and/or by the Director of M & O

6. Ensure that all Facilities Fire Alarm systems receive an annual inspections

 

Safety

7. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.

8. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
