Job Title: Flex Events Specialist                          Exemption Status: Nonexempt

Reports to: Director of Custodial & Events          Days: 250

Primary Purpose:

Setup facilities for district events including internal and external. Set-up includes, but is not limited to, chairs, tables, podium, pipe and drape, stage, ramp, steps, stage draping, power washing, etc. Maintain facilities both inside and outside the building. Support both custodial and maintenance departments maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds through a flexible schedule requirement (day, evening, and weekends) to setup and strike all events within the district.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED equivalency

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Clear and valid Texas driver’s license

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures

Ability to setup and strike staging and ramps

Ability to lift up to 45 pounds

Knowledge of minor repair techniques

Knowledge of building and ground maintenance

Ability to operate cleaning equipment

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

Good written and oral communication skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Facility Setup

1. Setup and strike of district and campus events, both internal and external.

2. Ensure facility is clean and presentable to attendees.

 

Cleaning

3. Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas, neat and clean.

4. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.

5. Assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Maintenance, Repair, and Moves

7. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.

8. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to Principal, Building Lead, and Manager of Custodial.

9. Move furniture or equipment within buildings and/or from building to building.

10. Assist in setting up facilities for both internal and external events, including during and/or after school hours.

 

Safety

11. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.

12. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.

13. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

14. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

15. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: Power Washer, Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, carpet cleaner (shampoo machine), lawn mower, edger, and weed eater

Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis.

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours
