Primary Purpose:

To coordinate the program with the High School Coaches and supervise assistant coaches working in the program.

 

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

2-4 years of competitive swim coaching experience with a USA Swimming Club

Hold a coaching membership that is in good standing with USA Swimming or meet all USA Swim Coach requirements

Ability to be energetic, patient, and motivational

Ability to provide effective instructions

Ability to communicate effectively with parents, coaching staff, and administrators

Enthusiasm for continuing their coaching education

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Program Management

1. Communicate with the Natatorium Director on staff assignments concerning the sport.

2. Design all levels of program and techniques to be used in that program, following the Prosper ISD and USA policies and procedures.

3. The Head Club Coaches will meet with the Natatorium Director prior to the start of each season to ensure Prosper ISD compliance and maintain all responsibilities assigned to them as designated by the Natatorium Director.

4. Responsible and accountable for all Prosper ISD and USA Swimming rules governing their specific program.

5. Manage, inventory, and purchase all equipment concerning the program through the Natatorium Director.

6. Oversee the Head Coaches as they are responsible for the individual public relations of the sport through the Natatorium Director.

7. Secure all officials for all USA/NT sanctioned meets.

8. Supply visiting team needs and take care of any other requirements for the orderly performance of contests.

9. Ensure that each participant has clearance through all governing bodies before participation in our programs.

10. Advise Maintenance on general management and care of the facility through the Natatorium Director.

11. Submit to Natatorium Director for approval any copies of any guidelines, procedures, and correspondence for the specific program prior to distribution (i.e. Facility rules, Instructor/Coach Objectives, etc).

12. Report any injury sustained by a swimmer and/or athlete to the Natatorium Director.

13. Oversee the Head Coaches as they are responsible for the dress, behavior and conduct of all the instructors and assistant coaches, as well as the swimmers in their respective groups. If these guidelines as set by the Head Coach are violated, the Head Coach will deal with each situation. Rules must have prior approval from Natatorium Director.

14. Report schedule changes, at any level, to Natatorium Director.

15. Assist in development of and implementation of Prosper ISD 3rd grade student water safety course.

16. Submit program equipment inventory to Natatorium Director every August or prior to the start of the new academic calendar year.

17. Schedule Athletic Banquets through the Natatorium Director and Athletic Office.

18. Oversee required paperwork and compliance courses for all Prosper ISD, USAS, and Red Cross Water Safety.

19. Develop a professional development plan for specific program.

20. Create a procedure plan for the specific program in the case of an absence.

21. File all sport specific USA Swimming reports necessary.

22. Follow Prosper ISD new student procedure for all new student athletes

23. Organize program communication procedures.

24. Develop a vision and plan for sport specific program.

25. Create structured day-to-day routine for staff and team members.

26. Organize and oversee all specific home and/or Natatorium events.

27. By September 1 Meeting, specify program objectives and process for obtaining them.

28. Attend all Prosper ISD Athletic Department/Natatorium and district-wide meetings.

29. Exhibit professional appearance through good grooming habits and appropriate attire at the Natatorium, lessons/practices and meets.

30. Responsible for the daily maintenance and security of all facilities and equipment.

31. Communicate utilizing the prescribed chain of command.

32. Complete a comprehensive EOS review of all sports programs annually with recommendations to Natatorium Director.

33. Exhibit loyalty to the programs, the facility staff, the Natatorium, and Prosper ISD.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to high humidity and potential chemical hazards in pool water. Moderate lifting; crouching, kneeling, sitting and standing. Working on slippery surfaces.
