Primary Purpose:
To work collaboratively with Principal, Site/Leadership Team, Staff, and District Leadership in implementing and maintaining AVID as a means to strengthen instruction thereby increasing college and career readiness for all students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or Education Related Field
TEA Teaching Certification
Three (3) years of teaching and/or counseling experience Preferred successful experience in working with AVID Program and related data management
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of AVID Program preferred
Ability to support/guide teachers in AVID specific instructional strategies
Skill in interpreting data and reports and using the analysis to improve CCMR readiness
Ability to help students achieve CCMR indicators
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Implement AVID curriculum with fidelity.
2. Train, facilitate, and collaborate with tutors to effectively implement the AVID tutorial process.
3. Support students’ academic success across all content areas, specifically tied to enrollment in at leaste one Honors or AP level course.
4. Act as the AVID liaison to the principal, counselor, teaching staff, and the AVID District Director/Administrator.
5. Co-lead the building AVID site team in facilitating monthly meetings which focus on the instructional elements of AVID
6. Be an instructional leader, sharing techniques and materials through formal and informal professional learning experiences
7. Facilitate the planning and scheduling of field trips, guest speakers, and special programs.
8. Co-facilitate campus AVID parent involvement activities.
9. Facilitate AVID data collection as it relates to school wide implementation.
10. Recruit and retain AVID learners.
11. Organize and maintain AVID certification materials at the campus level for compliance.
12. Attend scheduled AVID meetings and trainings at both the campus and district level.
13. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
14. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
15. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.

Policy, Reports, and Law
17. Assist in the development of policies and procedures regarding AVID.
18. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
19. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged sitting. Occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse. Occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Frequently work prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent district wide travel.
