Description

Primary Purpose:

Maintain Skyward data, define and train on SIS related processes, fulfill data requests pertaining to student data for various departments, assist with PEIMS related data tasks. Integrate and maintain data across data systems. Develop, maintain, and monitor all Skyward data systems, flows, and scripts as required. The Skyward Administrator’s duties will include, but not be limited to installation, testing, and oversight of all district Skyward related data systems, hardware, personal computers, software, and related equipment.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in computer related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience

Industry recognized DBA (Database Administrator) certification (preferred) or equivalent experience

Industry recognized Skyward certification (preferred) or equivalent experience

 

Required Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to effectively communicate between data systems vendors and PISD staff, understanding of the processes in place Ability to support large scale data integration projects for dissimilar data systems

Knowledge of data systems implementations and management

In-depth knowledge of Skyward Student Information System, data import/export, data mining, PEIMS processes

Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and the ability to work with external provider

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of TxEIS Business Management Suite Experience with report writing (preferred)

Knowledge of database systems and design

Experience with query writing in tools such as SQL and MySQL Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Java, VB, etc.)

Ability to prepare documentation and deliver training on processes

Understanding of data security, cleanliness, preparation, transport and limiting access

Experience with ID Automation’s Rapid Identity product suite (preferred)

Ability to analyze and resolve data network and systems projects and problems

Knowledge of computer applications development and implementations

 

Experience:

Experience with a medium to large educational organization that has experienced growth (preferred)

At least one year of work experience with Skyward (preferred)

 

Policy, Reports, and Law

1. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.

2. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required. Budget and Inventory

3. Recommend Skyward services, solutions, and programs that are cost-effective.

4. Recommend district migration of equipment based on industry standards and district application requirements to provide better support of Skyward operations.

 

Other

5. Recommend training options and improvement plans to ensure exemplary technology operations and services.6. Attend training activities as necessary to stay current on technology innovations and methodologies.

7. Duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Network Services.

8. Provide back-up support for other systems administrators.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Repetitive hand motions and the prolonged use of computer equipment will be required. Lifting and moving of heavy equipment; stooping, bending, and kneeling may be required. Additionally, occasional prolonged and irregular hours may be required. Some duties may require staff to be on-call 24 hours a day.
