Primary Purpose:

To provide leadership in the operation of the school to assist the principal and administrative team. This is an entry level administrative position.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university Certified in the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)

ESL Certification

Completion of 30 Gifted and Talented Hours

Well versed in Understanding by Design and PLC

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of Texas Accountability Standards

Knowledge of curriculum and effective instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Strong organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills

Working knowledge of supervision

 

Experience:

A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience (teaching level preferred matching level of position selected)

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Management

1. Interpret the Prosper ISD curriculum guides and assist in program implementation.

2. Assist with the administration of system-wide and special testing programs.

3. Assist with the monitoring and reporting of teachers' methods of charting student progress.

4. Develop an awareness of special programs such as 504, gifted education, special education and ARD's, Response to Intervention, Professional Learning Communities, Understanding by Design.

5. Follow state and local policies related to the teacher appraisal process (T-TESS).

6. Conduct classroom observations and teacher conferences in a professional manner.

7. Participate in school improvement activities as delegated by Principal.

 

School/Organization Climate

8. Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.

9. Promote a positive student learning environment and positive staff morale within the district by providing in-class support in the areas of classroom management, positive student reinforcement, motivational strategies, and maintenance of positive student rapport

10. Foster collegiality and team building among staff; encourage their active involvement in the decision process.

11. Provide for two-way communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.

12. Communicate and promote expectations for high level performance from staff and students; recognize excellence and achievement.

13. Facilitate effective and timely resolution of conflicts.

 

Personnel Management

14. Develop an agenda and conduct faculty meetings.

15. Assist teachers as needed in classroom instruction.

16. Assist principal in teacher assessment to determine staff development needs.

17. Assist in the selection interview process of campus staff.

18. Assist in the recruitment and selection interview process at district level as assigned by the Superintendent or his designee.

19. Assist with the mentoring process of new hires at campus level as assigned by the Principal or his designee.

20. Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of assigned mentors at campus assigned by facilitating mentor-First Year Teacher (FYT) meetings.

21. Conduct pre-conferences, observations and post-conferences with assigned new hires to collaboratively identify priorities, select goals and develop a professional growth plan. (Include input from Teacher Supervisors and other appropriate personnel).

22. Provide inductees in-class support/resources (observation results, materials, modeling, team teaching/planning, in service, personnel) needed to strive toward mastery teaching and mastery learning.

23. Report assessment needs to appropriate personnel, i.e., teachers, supervisors, instructional coordinators, computer services, when additional instructional and technical resources are needed for inductees.

24. Plan and implement follow-up with inductees to encourage the utilization of materials, skills and instructional models.

25. Analyze professional development progress with inductees maintaining documented progress of teacher goal attainment as it relates to student success.

 

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

26. Coordinate routine maintenance requests and needs.

27. Conduct regular building and equipment inspections.

28. Assist in the development of campus traffic plan.

 

Student Management

29. Implement district discipline management plan.

30. Supervise pupils in campus area, i.e., halls, cafeteria, crosswalks, bathrooms.

31. Assist in registering, orienting and assigning new pupils.

32. Assist teachers in identifying reasons for discipline problems and develop a plan of action.

33. Investigate student attendance patterns and suggests ways of improving school attendance.

34. Participate in accident and vandalism reporting procedures.

35. Monitor daily schedules to be certain instructional time is maximized.

 

School/Community Relations

36. Attend all campus PTO meetings, and one meeting of the PISD Board of Trustees.

37. Participate in public relations activities for the school.

38. Assist the principal in creating positive home-school communication.

39. Assist the principal in the administration and coordination of the parent volunteer program.

 

Professional Growth and Development

40. Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.

41. Take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments to include the latest research and development in educational methodology.

42. Maintain confidentiality.

43. Serve on district committees/special projects. Perform such other duties and responsibilities as assigned, or as may be necessary for job effectiveness.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise mentor program at campus level and personnel as assigned for appraisal purposes.
