Primary Purpose:
Support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Prosper ISD by providing leadership and expertise in curricular and instructional programs. Assist in the design, alignment, and articulation of the curriculum in the subject area(s) and/or program(s) assigned. Assist in the analysis of strengths and weaknesses in the curriculum and instructional program of the district and supports curriculum design teams in prescribing content and strategies for improvement. Support the planning and facilitating of professional learning aligned to the instructional program goals and needs identified as a result of analysis of student assessments of learning.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree from an accredited university or current enrollment in a master’s program
Valid Texas teaching certificate in appropriate content area
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of effective, research based instruction
Skill in coaching and modeling instructional practices
Knowledge of curriculum and differentiated instruction
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Skill in interpreting policy, procedures, and data
Experience:
Five (5) years of successful teaching experience
Strong knowledge of Understanding by Design
Successful curriculum writing or campus instructional leader experience, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Model core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties in an effective and efficient manner for the purpose of supporting and contributing to high student achievement.
2. Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups.
3. Facilitate the deconstruction of standards based upon content, context, and cognitive alignment.
4. Facilitate the alignment of instructional resources based upon content, context, and cognitive alignment.
5. Facilitate the design of assessments and rubrics that are contextually and cognitively aligned to the content standards.
6. Integrate knowledge about best teaching practices for the assigned subject area(s) and/or program(s) assigned.
7. Communicate across and within grade-level and subject area curriculum design teams to ensure proper alignment to district and program goals.
8. Train, model for, and coach classroom teachers, teacher teams, and campus administrators in the implementation of the district’s curriculum and implementation of appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials to ensure learning success of students.
9. Continually learn and build personal and professional capacity.
10. Maintain a supportive, positive, and professional attitude regarding all aspects of the job responsibilities, administration and district/campus goals.
11. Positively represent Prosper ISD and the district administration at public venues and/or activities; maintain a professional appearance, manner and work habit.
12. Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
13. Maintain confidentiality.
14. Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
15. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
16. Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
17. Perform other related duties as assigned.
