Primary Purpose:

Manage and secure district hosted database servers. Supporting the integration of data between the district’s enterprise systems (Student Information System, Enterprise Resource Planning system) and other applications that consume student, staff and district information. Working with district data integration team to support district single sign-on portal.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (preferred) OR

Three years data integration experience Industry recognized DBA (Database Administrator) certification OR

Three years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other industry-standard database platform

 

Required Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to manage large scale data integration projects for dissimilar data systems

In-depth knowledge of data systems implementations and management

Knowledge of database theory and systems, design and installation

Experience with ODBC query writing

Experience with scripting, API, and logic-based programming languages

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL administration tools and methods to include, but not limited to SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS

Knowledge of data privacy principles and best practices to secure data as it moves throughout the enterprise

Experience administering role-based security

Ability to effectively communicate between data systems vendors and PISD staff across multiple non-technology departments Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Experience with identity lifecycle management processes (ID Automation’s Rapid Identity product suite preferred)

Experience with implementing and maintaining Single Sign-on, Rostering, and Application Portal

Experience with Student Information Systems (Skyward preferred)

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning or Financial Information Systems (Skyward preferred)

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Data Integration and Database Management

1. Advise and recommend solutions to address district technology needs, including the evaluation of hardware and software and the management of information relating to curricular and educational business functions.

2. Assist with the coordination of support between vendors and service organizations and district staff, including programming, application support, and end-user support related to instructional and data systems.

3. Configuration and Management of all district hosted database servers.

4. Deploy and maintain automated custom data integrations between district information systems and third-party vendors.

5. Work cooperatively with technology personnel on major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals and objectives.

6. Oversee and coordinate a continuing evaluation of information and technology services related to instructional and data administration and implement changes based on the findings.

 

Policy, Reports, and Law

7. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.

8. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.

 

Budget and Inventory

9. Recommend technology services, solutions, and programs that are cost-effective.

10. Recommend budget and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.

11. Recommend district migration of equipment based on industry standards and district application requirements.

 

Personnel Management

12. Recommend training options and improvement plans to ensure exemplary technology operations and services.

 

Other

13. Attend training activities as necessary to stay current on technology innovations and methodologies.

14. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Systems.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Repetitive hand motions and the prolonged use of computer equipment will be required. Lifting and moving of heavy equipment; stooping, bending, and kneeling may be required. Additionally, occasional prolonged and irregular hours may be required. Some duties may require staff to be on-call 24 hours a day.
