Description

Primary Purpose:

Integrate and maintain data across data systems. Administer and operate the district’s data systems. Develop, maintain, and monitor all district data systems, flows, and scripts as required. Duties for this position will include, but not be limited to, installation, testing, and oversight of all district data systems, hardware, personal computers, software, and related equipment. Additionally, the administrator will provide back-up support for other systems administrators.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience

Industry-recognized DBA (Database Administrator) certification (preferred) or equivalent experience

 

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to manage large-scale data integration projects for dissimilar data systems
  • In-depth knowledge of data systems implementations and management
  • Knowledge of database theory and systems design, and installation
  • Experience with ODBC query writing Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and the ability to work with external providers
  • Experience with Laserfiche flows and systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft systems administration tools and methods to include, but not limited to SQL Management, Database Management tools, Policy Management tools
  • Ability to effectively communicate between data systems vendors and PISD staff across multiple non-technology departments Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience with Classlink (preferred) or similar identity lifecycle/data integration tool
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining Single Sign-on, Rostering, and Application Portal
  • Knowledge of Skyward Student Information System (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Skyward Qmlativ ERP (preferred)
  • Knowledge of network hardware and software applications to include, but not limited to network servers, printers, network switches, and application appliances
  • Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols
  • Ability to analyze and resolve data network and systems projects and problems
  • Knowledge of computer networks, infrastructure, server and switch hardware
  • Knowledge of computer applications development and implementations
  • Microsoft SQL and other data engine experience

Experience:

Experience with a medium to large educational organization that has experienced growth (preferred)

At least one year of work experience maintaining and/or managing enterprise-wide data systems management

Experience to include, but not limited to Microsoft SQL and Progress DB

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Data Systems Management

1. Advise and recommend solutions to address district technology needs, including the evaluation of hardware and software and the management of information relating to curricular and educational business functions.

2. Assist with the coordination of support between vendors and service organizations and district staff, including programming, application support, and end-user support related to district messaging and data systems.

3. Work cooperatively with technology personnel and departments on major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals and objectives.

4. Assist with technology staff development and knowledge transfer as required by district growth and changing systems requirements.

5. Oversee and coordinate a continuing evaluation of information and technology services related to messaging and data administration and implement changes based on the findings.

 

Policy, Reports, and Law

6. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.

7. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.

 

Budget and Inventory

8. Recommend technology services, solutions, and programs that are cost-effective.

9. Recommend budget and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.

10. Recommend district migration of equipment based on industry standards and district application requirements.

 

Personnel Management

11. Recommend training options and improvement plans to ensure exemplary technology operations and services.

 

Other

12. Attend training activities as necessary to stay current on technology innovations and methodologies.

13. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Network Services.

 

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Repetitive hand motions and the prolonged use of computer equipment will be required. Lifting and moving of heavy equipment; stooping, bending, and kneeling may be required. Additionally, occasional prolonged and irregular hours may be required. Some duties may require staff to be on-call 24 hours a day.
