Description

Primary Purpose:

The Warehouse Distribution Specialist will assist in receiving, storing, distributing, and shipping of instructional materials. This position supports overall curriculum and instruction operations by maintaining inventory control and orderly upkeep of the instructional materials warehouse.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid Texas driver’s license

Driving record that is insurable with PISD insurance carrier

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to maintain accurate inventory control records and reports

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions

Ability to communicate effectively with others

 

Experience:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Receiving and Distribution

1. Load and unload delivery trucks as needed.

2. Verify accuracy of instructional material shipments and record any discrepancies or damage.

3. Barcode and inventory materials into the resource tracking software system.

4. Fill requisitions and verify accuracy of orders pulled prior to distribution.

5. Pickup and deliver instructional materials as needed.

6. Support Instructional Materials Supervisor with out of adoption shipment procedures.

 

Inventory

7. Perform inventory control procedures, investigate any discrepancies, and maintain high standards in anticipation of audits.

8. Maintain overall organization of the IM warehouse space in collaboration with other departments.

9. Support annual audits of all IM materials on assigned campuses.

10. Sort and store items according to established inventory systems and procedures.

11. Conduct regular physical inventory of warehoused instructional materials and verify against inventory control totals.

 

Safety

12. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and carrying.

13. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.

14. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.

 

Other

15. Inspect vehicles and equipment following established inspection procedures to identify needed repairs.

16. Crosstrain with the other warehouse staff to support all routine tasks as needed

17. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; forklift or hydraulic lifting equipment; hand truck, dolly, and pallet jack; small hand tools; light truck or van

Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; may work alone; occasional prolonged or irregular hours
