Primary Purpose:
Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and managing the district’s video software and camera system for transportation to ensure safe and efficient transportation services. Assist Lead Tech in keeping the district’s bus camera systems, radio communication components, GPS, Driver navigation system, and other security systems in working order. Maintain electronic work order system for bus repairs and assist with routing software.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements or willing to obtain within 90 days of employment
Completion of 20-hour School Bus Driver Certification Class
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical/drug test
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of bus video equipment
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Ability to multi-task Understanding of basic video and radio operation Knowledge of federal, state and board policy as related to transportation
Effective, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with staff, visitors, and community members
Basic desktop computer knowledge
Experience:
Two years of experience working with electronic equipment diagnosis and repair, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Bus Video, Radio Systems, GPS, Driver Navigation Systems
1. Work with bus video, radio, GPS, driver navigation systems to review and maintain cameras and radios on buses.
2. Obtain video/audio information from the various systems installed on the district’s bus/ vehicle fleet.
3. Maintain accurate inventory and records information pertaining to video and radio systems.
4. Prepare and maintain video library for video requests in accordance with FERPA regulations.
5. Retrieve video footage as requested and perform spot checks.
6. Test and perform minor repairs to video, GPS, and other equipment on buses.
7. Work with vendors to troubleshoot equipment issues.
8. Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for video, radio, GPS, driver navigation and back-up camera systems.
Communication
9. Serve as liaison with campuses and communicate effectively with school administrators.
10. Inform management of any irregularities in the video/electronic systems.
11. Maintain confidentiality related to information obtained from video, student information, and driver information.
Other
12. Stay informed regarding new technology in the video/audio field.
13. Assure safe working environment for self and co-workers. Must be alert to exercise safety precautions at all times.
14. Serve as substitute bus driver, including being available for morning and afternoon routes as needed and requested by supervisor(s). Perform as a back-up to the dispatcher when needed.
15. Perform other tasks assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
